Medfordian Helped Raise Cash for Jimmy Fund
Michele Vasquez of Medford was one of over 8,500 who participated in the annual Boston Marathon Jimmy Fund Walk

Michele Vasquez, of Medford, captain of Team Cell's Angels, joined more than 8,500 other participants on Sunday, Sept. 12, in the 22nd annual Boston Marathon Jimmy Fund Walk.
Team Cell's Angels walked up to 26.2 miles along the historic course of the Boston Marathon to help raise $6.5 million for cancer care and research at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. The team chipped in with a contribution of $4,000.

The Boston Marathon Jimmy Fund Walk is the only event, other than the Boston Marathon itself that is sanctioned by the Boston Athletic Association to use the official historic marathon route from Hopkinton to Boston.
Over the past 22 years, the Boston Marathon Jimmy Fund Walk has raised more than $66 million for Dana-Farber, which treats adults and children and is a leader in innovative cancer research. The money raised by the walkers directly benefits not only local patients, but people around the world as top doctors and researchers utilize the work conducted at Dana-Farber.
