New Pipeline May Cause Discolored Water Feb. 8 in Medford
New pipeline may result in iron in the water in the Hillside, South Medford.

The following was provided by the Massachusetts Water Resources Authority:
On Wednesday, February 8, 2012, the Massachusetts Water Resources Authority will be activating a section of newly rehabbed pipeline which may cause discolored water in parts of Medford in the areas of Tufts University around Boston Avenue and Packard Avenue. Customers may notice discolored water for a day or two after this work.
If discolored water does occur, it will result from a small amount of iron in the pipes. While safe for drinking, cooking and other uses, please note that iron will stain light colored items in your laundry, especially when bleach is used. Residents should check water clarity before washing any white or lighter colored laundry during this period of work.
