Report: Medford Man Allegedly Received 600 Pounds of Pot Through Conspiracy

A Medford man was indicted by a Federal Grand Jury in New York on charges alleging he trafficked marijuana into New York from Canada.

Huy Hoang "Boston" Nguyen, 40, was arrested in the Boston area Jan. 24 on a charge of conspiracy to distribute at least 100 kilograms of marijuana and a charge of conspiracy to import at least 100 kilograms of marjuana, according to a federal court docket. He was indicted by a New York Grand Jury Tuesday. He is scheduled to appear in U.S. District Court in Boston Friday for a hearing.

Starting in early 2010 through May 11, 2011, Nguyen allegedly conspired to import marijuana by smuggling across the Canada/U.S. border in Western New York, then have it brought to him in Massachusetts, according to the indictment.

Drug mules allegedly used compartments hidden in the floor of tractor trailers to haul the pot from the border in New York to Nguyen in Medford, the Buffalo News reports.

Federal agents seized over $25,000 from Nguyen at the time of his arrest, according to the indictment.
