Brodeur Era Kicks Off In Melrose
Mayor Paul Brodeur was sworn in this week as the new leader of Melrose.

MELROSE, MA — The Brodeur era has begun.
Paul Brodeur was sworn in as mayor Monday morning in a City Hall ceremony. He had officially been mayor since 5:01 p.m. Friday.
Brodeur, a former state representative, left Beacon Hill for City Hall because "Melrose is part of who I am," he said.

"Let's get one thing straight, I can't do this job alone," he said, calling on his team at City Hall as well as the citizens of Melrose.
"I accept the responsibility not just with gratitude but with humility recognizing again that it will take all of us," he said.

Brodeur ended his speech with a call to "work together to leave Melrose a little bit better than we found it."
In attendance was Congresswoman Katherine Clark, Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan, State Senator Jason Lewis and others.
"I can't think of a better person to be our next mayor .... It's those values that Paul really brings to this," Congresswoman Katherine Clark, of Melrose, said. "His thoughtfulness, his intellect, his love for this city. His desire to work for every single person in this city regardless of their viewpoint or their party."
