Five Melrose High School Students Receive ACE Mentor Scholarship

The ACE Mentor Program introduces high school students to the architecture, construction, and engineering industries.

MELROSE, MA – Five Melrose High School students will receive a scholarship from the ACE Mentor Program, a nonprofit organization that introduces high school students to the architecture, construction, and engineering industries.

Sabrina Xu, Isabel Vogel, Emily Giovanardi, Magdalena Trendafilova, and Benjamin Taylor were among 30 high school students from in and around Boston that will receive a scholarship this year.

The scholarships awarded to students in the mentor program range from $1,000 to $20,000 to support their college, university, or trade school education in these fields.

The ACE Mentor Program has awarded $1,267,500 in college and trade school scholarships since its creation in 2007.

The scholarship will help the five students complete a five-month design project alongside professional guidance by industry mentors who are full-time employees of construction, design and engineering firms.

The students will also get to construct a hypothetical project in order to learn about each discipline and take part in activities such as site visits, Revit training, and trade day.

This year, ACE awarded the largest amount in scholarships since it was created in 2007, totaling $210,000.
