Melrose Powerlifter Meghan Scanlon Sets 2 World Records

Meghan Scanlon, who's 5 feet 2 inches and 125 pounds, recently set world records at the IPC World Classic Powerlifting Championships in Helsingborg, Sweden. The 31-year-old was a soccer star at Melrose High School and now works as a personal trainer in Brookline. She set the world squat record for her weight class by lifting 178 kilograms, which is 392 pounds. "It's a crazy thing that I can throw 400 pounds on my back and lift that," she told Patch's Scott Souza.

Mansfield Select Board Approves Retail Marijuana Shop

Massachusetts is getting another marijuana shop, this time in Mansfield. Releaf Alternative plans to open a shop with room for 200 parking spaces. One town official worried it would lead to more marijuana use at the popular Xfinity Center.

Red Line Will Be Back To Normal By Labor Day: MBTA

The MBTA said it's fixing the Red Line after one person was injured in a derailment in Dorchester earlier this month. The work will take all summer, though. (Speaking of which, today was the first day of summer.)

A state representative admitted to illegally charging $851 worth of Uber rides to his campaign. Sean Garballey represents Arlington and parts of Medford.

A Stoughton drug raid netted a massive amount of fentanyl. Police said Carlos Concepcion, 28, of Newark, New Jersey, rammed a police cruiser in a failed attempt to escape. Officers said they found him with 3,000 fentanyl pills.
