Melrose Animal Clinic to Offer Microchips for Outdoor Cats

The microchips will help the city identify cats that are injured or lost, officials say.

Melrose Animal Control in conjunction with the Melrose Animal Clinic will be providing outdoor cats of Melrose with the opportunity to get a microchip at a discounted cost.

Outdoor cats should be micro-chipped to help the community identify cats that are injured, lost, or happily exploring their surroundings, officials say.

The clinic will be held on Dec. 12 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Melrose Animal Clinic.

Cats must be in a carrier and owners must have proof of residence. The fee for a microchip will be $20.00 or $30.00 for a microchip and a one-year rabies vaccine.

All cats must be vaccinated for rabies to be chipped. Prior proof of vaccination or vaccination at time of microchip is needed.
