Melrose Fall Community Cleanup Event Planned For Saturday

Keep Melrose Beautiful is organizing the event, with dozens of cleanup locations available for community members to sign up.

MELROSE, MA — Melrose community members have a chance to help beautify their community this weekend with a planned fall community cleanup event.

The initiative will run from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturday. It is organized by Keep Melrose Beautiful.

Event organizers recently invited community members to sign up to focus on picking up litter at one of dozens of designated cleanup locations around Melrose.

In addition to its community cleanups, Keep Melrose Beautiful was involved in a project to build “litter letters” as part of Earth Week observances last year.

The letters are equal parts a community cleanup initiative as they are a public arts project, asking community members to fill large hollow frame letters with litter that they recover through cleanup work.

Initially on display in Melrose, the letters came to Malden earlier this year for a display there.
