Melrose Gets Thousands For Recycling Programs

The city received $11,700 to bolster recycling efforts.

MELROSE, MA — The city received more than $11,000 in a state grant that will bolster recycling efforts.

Melrose got $11,700 of the $3.1 million the Baker-Polito administration doled out across Massachusetts this week. The money must go to recycling programs like new bins or carts, public education and outreach, collecting hard-to-recycle items, establishing recycling programs or other things.

The grants are part of the state's Recycling Dividends Program, which awards money to communities that implement "policies and programs proven to maximize the reuse and recycling of materials, as well as waste reduction," a release said.
