Melrose Named One of The State's First Climate Leader Communities
The Climate Leader Communities have demonstrated great efforts to lower local air pollution and manage energy costs.

MELROSE, MA — The city is one of 19 municipalities throughout the state that was named a Climate Leader Community by the Department of Energy Resources.
According to Gov. Maura Healey, the CLC designation was created in response to a demand from Massachusetts Green Communities who wanted a higher tier of the program that incentivizes them to become more environmentally friendly.
Some of the other communities who were named CLCs include Somerville, Cambridge, and Arlington. They all now can apply for grants of up to $1.15 million for carbon emission-reduction projects.
