Melrose Police Report Laughs at Comedy Night

This year, Melrose Police raised more than $2,800.

MELROSE, MA - The Melrose Police Department hosted a successful comedy night earlier this month, a release today said.

The annual event benefits community programs like the Police Department’s Rape Aggression Defense Program, the Melrose Junior Police Academy and the Melrose High School Scholarship Fund, a release said.

This year, Melrose Police raised more than $2,800, a release said. “Thank you to everyone who came out to attend this event,” Chief Lyle said. “Through numerous generous donations, we are able to sustain our community programs for another year.”

The show, which was held on June 4 at Prince Pizzeria in Saugus, was headlined by veteran Boston comedian Lenny Clarke with performances by other local acts, a release said.
