Melrose Substance Abuse Prevention Coalition Receives Generous Donation
Robinson Funeral Home donated $750 as part of their "12 Months of Charity" program.

MELROSE, MA - The Melrose Substance Abuse Prevention Coalition recently received a generous donation from Robinson Funeral Home for the amount of $750 as part of their “12 Months of Charity” program. The coalition would like to extend its gratitude to the Robinson family for their generosity and kindness in selecting us as the recipient for the month of July. It takes committed community partners such as these to successfully work together to address a common issue such as substance abuse.
The coalition has been funded by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration’s (SAMHSA) Drug Free Communities (DFC) grant for 10 years, and the Sober Truth on Prevention Underage Drinking (STOP Act) grant for 4 years. As funding comes to an end this September, the coalition is looking for new and sustainable ways to continue to offer the effective and impactful programs and services to prevent substance abuse among our youth and the broader community.

To celebrate the many accomplishments of the coalition over the last 10 years, we have planned a celebration for the night of Thursday, September 29th from 6:30-8:00pm at the Milano Senior Center Tierney Hall. A light dinner and dessert will be served while we hear from coalition coordinators, the Youth Action Team, and special guest Mayor Dolan about the future of the coalition. All are welcome to attend to learn more about the coalition and its future here in Melrose. We especially encourage any coalition members, past or present, to attend this night of celebration!
