Melrose Summer Stroll to Return on Friday

Part of Main Street and Essex Street will be closed to allow pedestrians to enjoy the Summer Stroll.

MELROSE, MA - Melrose’s Annual Summer Stroll will return to the downtown area this Friday for a ninth year.

The event will run from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Main Street will be closed between Upham and Grove Streets as a result. Part of Essex Street will also be closed to allow pedestrians to move throughout the evening.

Organized by the Melrose Chamber of Commerce, the Summer Stroll will feature live entertainment while showcasing local businesses.

Restaurants will serve food and beverages along the sidewalk and merchants will highlight specials, demos and sales at their businesses.

The Summer Stroll is funded through a sponsorship by the Residence at Melrose Station and a grant from the Melrose Messina Fund for the Arts.

It is also supported by several other local businesses that have provided live music opportunities along Main Street and Essex Street.

“The Summer Stroll is a fun evening of live music, dining and shopping locally,” the Chamber of Commerce wrote in a press release this week. “Patronize your favorite restaurants and retailers, while visiting ones that are new to you.”

The Summer Stoll will be held rain or shine.

This year’s live entertainment includes:

  • Deviant Folk (Bluegrass folklore)
  • Eddie Miller (Original rock and folk)
  • Joe Mulholland (Jazz, blues, Brazilian and Broadway)
  • Johnny O & Marianne + Diana (Classic rock, blues, singer/songwriter)
  • Dork & Micki (Contemporary)
  • Onset Music Stage
  • Boote & the Brothers (Blues)
