Melrose Symphony Orchestra Joined By Solo Violinist

The Orchestra welcomes Victor Romanul to partake in its upcoming March concert.

MELROSE, MA — The Melrose Symphony Orchestra is holding a special concert on Saturday, March 1 at 8 p.m.

The orchestra is slated to perform Amy Beach’s Gaelic Symphony, which includes Irish, British, and Scottish melodies. Beach was the first woman in the United States to compose and publish a symphony in 1894. The orchestra will be joined by former Boston Symphony violinist Victor Romanul as a featured soloist.

Romanul performed in the Boston Symphony for more than 30 years, before becoming a full-time soloist and violin teacher. He will perform Max Bruch’s Violin Concerto.

The concert will be held at Memorial Hall on 590 Main St. General admission tickets are available for $30, while students can get discounted tickets for $10.

The Melrose Symphony Orchestra is the oldest performing volunteer orchestra in the country. Yoichi Udagawa has been the conductor since 1997.
