Over the years, as a community, we have acknowledged and have made changes in the right direction. We removed the mascot, which seems to be the most important part of this issue. We no longer use any imagery/Dreamcatchers that align with American Indians and instead use the red “M”. By doing this we have shown that we are against hurtful imagery and making things better.
By changing the mascot and keeping the name red Raiders or even just Raider, and using the M as our mascot, we are finding a middle ground. I believe a middle ground is important since there is so much division in the city regarding this topic.
