MELROSE, MA – MelroseKind, a local nonprofit organization helping encourage fellow Melrosians to reach out to each other with random kindness, has added three new “Kindness Porches” to its fleet.

The new porches, located at 89 Walton Park, 160 West Wyoming, and 647 Main St. in Melrose, are all accepting charitable donations, along with the original kindness porch located at 249 Grove St.

Starting in July, the nonprofit is looking for diaper and children’s book donations to support Mother Helping Mothers Clothing Closet, an organization that provides items to assist mothers in need.

Through the end of July, Melrose community members are encouraged to donate new and gently used books and diapers in any size (open packages are acceptable too) to any of MelroseKind’s porches.

In addition to the kindness porches, the nonprofit is partnering with a Melrose local business and independent bookshop, Molly's Bookstore, to host a MelroseKind receptacle for children's picture books.

If you don't have time for a drop-off, you can use the organization’s Amazon wishlist to mail charitable donations for Mothers Helping Mothers Clothing Closet in care of MelroseKind.

“The need for diapers continues to affect more than 1 in 3 families with young children,” Maribeth Darwin, cofounder of MelroseKind, wrote in an email. “WIC and SNAP benefits do not provide dispensation for diapers. Please continue to share your kindness by donating.”
