Alleged Scam Claims Additional Benefits for Medicare Recipients
Thursday, Sept. 9, 7:31 p.m. A 73-year-old resident of Coolidge Condominiums on Main Street reported that a person called her, claiming that were part of national company that provides additional health care coverage for $400 per year to anybody who is on Medicare, according to Melrose Police Lt. Mark DeCroteau.

"They requested her personal information, she was concerned and contacted us," DeCroteau said. "Unfortunately, she did give some personal information."
Melrose Police contacted the woman's bank to put a hold on her account, ensuring that no money would be taken from the account without her knowledge or consent. DeCroteau said nothing has been taken out of the account. They stated it was to be provided at a cost of $400 a year.

Young Teens Fight After Football Game
Friday, Sept. 10, 9:53 p.m. Melrose Police received a couple of calls regarding a fight on Melrose Street after the Melrose High School football game. DeCroteau said the fight was between two 13-year-olds and up to eight youths were present. There were no serious injuries, he said, but an ambulance did respond for one teenager who had a bloody lip.
Other Arrests and Summonses
An 18-year-old Melrose man was issued a summons on Wednesday, Sept. 8 on the charge of violating an abuse prevention order.
A 33-year-old Melrose woman was issued a summons on Wednesday, Sept. 8 on the charge of assault.
A 55-year-old Melrose woman was issued a summons on Wednesday, Sept. 8 on the charge of assault.
Sergio Alberto Gomez Santoyo, 28, 19 West Wyoming Ave., Apt. 1, Melrose, was arrested on Friday, Sept. 10 on the charge of larceny over $250.
