Bicyclist Hit By Car At Lebanon and Malvern Intersection
Monday, July 12, 5:07 p.m. Melrose Police responded to a report of a person struck by a car at the intersection of Lebanon Street and Malvern Street. Melrose Police Lt. Mark DeCroteau said a 13-year-old boy on a bike was riding down Malvern Street, while the driver was stopped at a stop sign on Lebanon Street. When the driver began to cross the intersection to drive east on Lebanon Street, he struck the bicyclist, who did not suffer any visible apparent injury, but was transported by ambulance to Melrose-Wakefield Hospital.

Monday, July 12 5:15 p.m. Melrose Police received a 911 call reporting an unconscious person in Mary Foley Park. The person had a pulse and was breathing, DeCroteau said, treated by EMTs and transported to Melrose-Wakefield Hospital. DeCroteau said the initial report did not indicate that the person had overdosed, but the matter remains under investigation for a "possible overdose."

Friday, July 16, 3:46 a.m. Melrose Police responded to the home of a Lincoln Street resident who reported seeing two men in the driveway, one holding a flashlight and the other holding a bucket, who took off on foot toward East Emerson Street. After the men left, the resident reported discovering items missing from both a vehicle in the driveway and the home.
A short time later while police were still at the scene interviewing the victims, DeCroteau said the two men from earlier walked by the house again and were identified by the residents as the men seen earlier in the driveway. Matthew R. Handy, 18, 18 Jarvis St., Revere, was arrested on charges of breaking and entering into a building during the nighttime for a felony; two counts of larceny under $250; and larceny over $250. Adel Ouansa, 18, 25 Madison St., Revere, was arrested on charges of breaking and entering into a building during the nighttime for a felony; two counts of larceny over $250; and larceny under $250. DeCroteau declined to provide further details, saying the incident is still under investigation.
Other Arrests and Summonses
A 25-year-old Malden woman was issued a summons on Monday, July 12 on charges of assault and battery and malicious damage to a motor vehicle.
Daniel Mwangi, 21, 105 Pleasant St., Apt. A, Melrose, was arrested on Wednesday, July 14 on charges of assault and battery and intimidating a witness.
A 25-year-old Stoneham man was issued a summons on Wednesday, July 14 on the charge of leaving the scene of property damage.
A 22-year-old Malden man was issued a summons on Friday, July 16 on the charge of violation of an abuse prevention order.
A 26-year-old Melrose woman was issued a summons on Saturday, July 17 on charges of breaking and entering for a misdemeanor and receiving stolen property worth less than $250.
A 20-year-old Melrose man was issued a summons on Saturday, July 17 on the charge of disturbing the peace.
