3 Melrose Schools will benefit from $75,000 funding earmark

A House budget includes an earmark for energy-efficient initiatives in the district.

MELROSE, MA — State Rep. Kate Lipper-Garabedian announced she helped secure a $75,000 earmark for the Melrose school district through the Massachusetts House of Representatives.

The funds are slated to go toward upgrades to the Lincoln School, Veterans Memorial Middle School, and High School that aim to make the schools more energy efficient.
The earmark is included as part of the $1.3 supplemental budget bill, with approximately $353 million toward public education investments.

Lipper-Garabedian represents the 32nd Middlesex District in the House of Representatives, which includes the entirety of Melrose, Ward 5 Precincts 2 and 3A of Malden, and Precincts 4,5, and 6 of the Town of Wakefield. Lipper-Garabedian first took office in the spring of 2020 after serving as a Melrose city councilor.
