A Milford student, George Bolosky, has won a $4,000 scholarship.

1. Traffic has slowed considerably on East Main Street, due to construction at the intersection with Cedar Street. Seek alterate routes.
2. George Bolosky, a Milford student at Blackstone Valley Tech, participated in the Edelbrock Carburetor Challenge at the World of Wheels in Boston, and won a $4,000 scholarship to Ohio Technical College in Cleveland. The Edelbrock Academy, a newly formed program between Edelbrock and Ohio Technical College, gives students a solid foundation in the building and tuning of American muscle cars and performance vehicles. In the Carburetor Challenge, local high school students take a written test and write an essay about carburetor operation and diagnosis.

3. Are you a veteran looking for a transition to a new career following return home from deployment? The program Boots to Business Veteran Mentorship Program, through the Boston Chamber of Commerce, will match you with a manager or director at a business in the Boston area. 4. A Business After Hours event will be held this afternoon at The Alamo Restaurant, starting at 5 p.m. The event is coordinated by the Milford Area Chamber of Commerce. Chamber members pay a $10 fee. For non-members, it's $25.

5. The Massachusetts State Police will hold a sobriety checkpoint on a public way in Worcester County Friday, May 3 into Saturday, May 4.
