Credit Union Branch Coming To Milford Where Bank Now Stands

MILFORD, MA — A Shrewsbury-based credit union is planning a new location in Milford, according to documents submitted to the Planning Board.

Central One Credit Union is planning to turn the Bank of America branch at 82 Prospect St. — across the street from the Shaw's supermarket plaza — into its new branch. Central One has existing branches in Auburn, Shrewsbury, Northborough, Westborough and inside St. Vincent Hospital in Worcester.

The credit union will go before the Planning Board on Tuesday to discuss the branch proposal. However, the application may be pushed back to a later meeting after planning officials found several details missing from the proposal.

For example, the plans do not clearly show either the exterior or interior changes. The plans also do not clearly explain a proposal to move a handicap parking spot away from the main entrance and to the rear of the building, according to documents.

The new Central One branch will be located next door to another big change coming to Prospect Street: the relocation of a Walgreen's pharmacy to the site of a vacant former mechanic shop at 80 Prospect St.
