Doc's Sports Bar to be Sold, Contents Auctioned
The owner of Doc's Sports Bar & Grille has closed the business and expects to sell the property in June. A public auction will be held May 21 to sell the contents of the building, including kitchen equipment and sports memorabilia.

Doc's Sports Bar & Grille has closed and will be sold within the next two months. The contents of the business will be sold at a public auction later this month.
Owner Kevin Coady said Thursday he'd had enough of years of fighting in court with town officials over his effort to feature adult entertainment at the facility, and decided to sell.
He appealed the but the state Supreme Judicial Court decided not to take up the case, which centered around zoning for adult entertainment and whether Doc's met the criteria. Coady said he still feels like he didn't get a definitive answer from the court system about whether the town was justified in denying his business a special permit for adult entertainment. But he didn't want to keep fighting it.

"I'm not taking it any further than that," Coady said. "I was done."
Coady said he is retiring from the restaurant business, so is selling the contents of the bar and restaurant, including several dozen signed Jerseys and other sports memorabilia. An auction will be held on the site May 21. The property and building will be sold in June.

Coady purchased the property in 1985 and built the 10,000-square-foot facility, one of the largest restaurants and bars in Milford. He would not say who is purchasing the property. Coady said he has signed a purchase and sale agreement but the new buyer did not want to be identified until closing, Coady said.
The closing is expected in late June, but has not been scheduled as yet, he said.
A large sign posted on the side of the building, facing East Main Street, advertises an upcoming public auction. The sale of the contents of the building — including kitchen and serving equipment and bar decor — is being handled by Paul E. Saperstein Co.
