El Salvadoran National Faces Child Sex Abuse Charges In Milford

Manuel Umana Solorzano was wanted on multiple charges.

MILFORD, MA — An El Salvadoran national is facing child rape and child pornography charges after a joint operation led to his arrest, according to Milford police.

Manuel Umana Solorzano, who lives in Milford, was taken into custody on Friday morning after police said he tried to flee on foot. The 29-year-old was charged with rape of a child with force and possession of child pornography, among other things.

Milford detectives worked together with the Massachusetts State Police Violent Fugitive Apprehension Section and the United States Marshals Service to apprehend Umana Solorzano in the area of 16 Court Square.

He will be arraigned in Milford District Court on Friday afternoon.

"Someone who is suspected of taking advantage of children will find no quarter in Milford," said Chief Robert Tusino. "There will be no shelter, no safe haven, no sanctuary for people who are suspected of such crimes against children."
