MILFORD, MA — A man now faces charges after making threats about Milford residents and police department officers, according to the Milford Police Department. Lawrence Trust, 46, was charged with two counts of threat to commit a crime.

Last Wednesday, the police department received multiple phone calls from what they called a “ghost” phone number. Police said the caller was making racially charged statements about Milford residents, as well as comments about the ethnicity of Milford police officers.

Later that evening, the department received multiple direct messages on Instagram from an account that said they had called. The messages contained more threats toward minority groups and sexually aggressive comments about two female officers.

After an investigation, police identified Trust, who is from Medway, as the unidentified caller. He was arraigned in Milford District Court.

“This kind of lewd and bigoted behavior will not be tolerated toward the citizens and officers I serve," said Milford Police Chief Robert Tusino. "There is zero tolerance in Milford for threats against a person based on their race, ethnicity, creed or sex."
