Milford Police: Shoplifting Reported at Target; Bike Stolen on Bankcroft Ave.

The following information was provided by the Milford Police Department. Where arrests are mentioned, they do not indicate conviction.

Tuesday, Oct. 14

At 7:14 a.m., a Congress Street resident reported to Milford Police that a dead skunk had been found on their property. Milford Animal Control was notified.

At 8:01 a.m., a Redwood Drive resident reported that her house had been egged overnight.

At 8:57 a.m., the Milford Fire Department responded to a smoke detector alarm on Central Street. The alarm was deemed to be false, but found that entry had been made to the property through an unlocked front door. Milford police were notified.

At 9:32 a.m., police received a report of a wire down on Ferguson Drive. Verizon was notified.

At 9:44 a.m., police received a report that a man had been pushing a baby carriage up South Central Street, where he had been going through trash, when a resident spoke to the man. Officers responded but were not able to locate the man in the area.

At 11:10 a.m., Milford fire crews responded to Beach Street on a report of illegal burning behind a barn.

At 2:29 p.m., police responded to Target on a report of shoplifting in progress. Officers located a female in a vehicle without license plates and with a back door open, possibly waiting for another suspect to exit the store with a large item. Officers then entered the store to speak with Loss Prevention regarding the alleged incident.

At 3:23 p.m., a caller from the village Laundromat on Main Street reported that the building had been hit by a truck.

At 5:43 p.m., a caller reported that a family had been holding up signs and asking for money at Stop and Shop.

At 9:07 p.m., a caller reported that a bicycle had been stolen from Bancroft Avenue.

At 10:44 p.m., police received a noise complaint in the area of Fruit Street, as a maroon-colored SUV with New York plates had been parked in front of a property there, with alarms going off every five minutes. Officers were unable to locate the vehicle’s owner, but noted that while in the area the alarm did not go off.
