MILFORD, MA — A Milford nonprofit that assists veterans at home and abroad is supporting a Fall River food program with a $500 donation.

Thanks To Yanks founder Mike Shain presented the Veterans' Kitchen with the donation in February. The program, located at the Blessed Trinity church, hosts a weekly free luncheon for veterans in the Fall River area. The luncheons happen every Wednesday.

Shain founded Thanks to Yanks after the Sept. 11 attacks to support veterans serving in wars overseas. The nonprofit has become a fixture in the Milford area with an annual dinner, a variety of donation activities and an annual Christmas Giving Tree drive in partnership with the Milford Public Library.
