Monday Essentials: Milford's Colabello Scores First Major League Homer
Here are five things to help inform your day.

1. Chris Colabello, of Milford, now a starter for the Minnesota Twins, had his first major-league home run this weekend. And he was able to get the ball returned by a six-year-old girl, in exchange for some goodies from the Twins, including hats and other souvenirs, according to a post in the St. Paul Pioneer Press. His teammates rewarded his home run with an ice bath.
2. The fourth and final community meeting hosted by Foxwoods Massachusetts will be Wednesday, and will focus on the site design. The meeting begins at 7 p.m. at Milford High School. Previous meetings can be seen on the Milford TV YouTube channel.
3. The Woodland School Building Committee will meet on Wednesday, at 6 p.m., to consider the project. The meeting is at Milford Town Hall.
4. If you commute into Boston along the Mass Pike, the state DOT said it plans to make some slight changes to a new congestion relief effort at I-90 and I-95 in Weston. The state on Monday night will install more signs and reposition them on the lane closure location slightly further south on I-95. From its release: "A third of all traffic on I-95 NB exits at Exit 23-24-25, and a recent traffic count showed 10 percent of vehicles continuing north on I-95 utilize the right lane. During the trial period, thru traffic on I-95 Northbound should stay to the left. Hesitation is common around new traffic patterns and public awareness will be key." The idea is to prevent backups on to the Mass Pike at this juncture.
5. The new school year is coming fast. The freshman orientation for incoming ninth graders at Milford High School is scheduled from 9 to 11:30 a.m. on Aug. 15.
