New Ice Cream Shop Coming To Milford

MILFORD, MA — A new ice cream shop is coming to the downtown Milford area, according to the owner.

The shop Smart Açaí may open in June at a shopping plaza at 10 Beach St., according to owner Celia Pereira. The shop will be located in the O'Loughlin Plaza, which backs up onto the Upper Charles Trail section heading toward Holliston.

In an email last week, Pereira said she hopes to open the shop in about two weeks.

Pereira will go before the Planning Board on Tuesday seeking a zoning change to allow the restaurant to operate in what was previously an office space. The application says the ice cream shop will be about 1,000 square feet and have seating for up to six people.

The plaza is already home to two other restaurants: Milford Pizza Palace and the Milford Nutrition smoothie shop.
