Planning for Farmer's Market in Milford Moves Ahead

Here are five things to help inform your day in Milford.

1. Planning for a farmer's market for Milford this year is progressing. A meeting will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Town Hall to discuss steps to be taken. The meeting will be led by Milford resident David Morganelli, who proposed the idea to selectmen this spring. The hope is to get a farmer's market organized and approved by summer's end.

2. The Foxwoods informational meeting on economic impacts, including the impacts of the proposed casino on town services, and on local businesses, will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Milford Town Hall. The first hour is for residents who didn't get a chance at the last meeting to ask questions about impacts on water.

3. Foxwoods throughout the day Wednesday will host informational meetings for Milford area residents to speak with its Connecticut-based casino employees about job descriptions, what their career paths were like, and other information about working at a casino.

4. The Milford School system has been able to restore funds for another first grade teacher position at Memorial School. The money for a new hire was freed up by administrative changes at the high school, said Superintendent Robert Tremblay.

5. U.S. Rep. Joseph Kennedy III has relaunched his website. The updated site contains a variety of new tools and expanded information for constituents of the 4th Congressional district. It offers a simplified and streamlined design, too.
