Police Log: Man Causing Disturbance at Milford District Court

The following information was provided by the Milford Police Department. Charges do not indicate a conviction.

Monday, April 22

3:39 p.m.: A caller reported a large amount of jewelry had been turned in to Nathan's Jewelers. The jewelry was hers and she had not authorized a sale. Police are seeking a summons to charge Alexandra McCarthy, 18, of 6 John St., Apt. 1A, Fayreville, NJ with two counts of larceny over $250.

4:13 p.m.: Following a two-car crash on East Main Street and Fortune Boulevard, police are seeking a summons to charge John V. Hayes, 38, of 481 E. Main St., Apt. C, Milford, with operating an uninsured motor vehicle, operating an unregistered motor vehicle, marked lanes violation, number plate missing, operating a motor vehicle negligently so as to endanger, having no inspection sticker, license not in possession and registration not in possession. His Ford Econovan was towed. No injury resulted from the crash.

5:20 p.m.: Security at Milford Regional Medical Center asked for police help. A patient in the emergency room wa being harassed by another person.

8:55 p.m.: EMTs responded to Doubletree by Hilton Hotel for a report of a man in a room who was highly intoxicated and irate. The front desk had received a request for police help by the man's mother. The man was taken to Milford Regional Medical Center.

Tuesday, April 23

12:07 a.m.: Art's Towing reported finding a locked case in a repossessed vehicle that contained a gun. The vehicle was from Northbridge.

2:11 a.m.: Police responded to CVS on South Main Street for a report of a woman who had shoplifted. Police arrested Juliana Braz, 27, of 19 Alden St., Apt. B, Milford, on a charge of shoplifting by concealing merchandise.

7:25 a.m.: A man walked in to police headquarters to report a license plate had been stolen off a vehicle at Ricoh Americas Corp. on Industrial Road.

11:42 a.m.: A caller told police her 60-year old son was intoxicated and she was afraid he might hurt her. Police responded and took the man into protective custody.

1:47 p.m.: Police reported a theft at Milford High School.

2:13 p.m.: A caller asked police to check on the well-being of her daughter, who she said wanted to harm herself. The mother refused to stay in the house as she had to go to work. Police responded. The daughter was taken to Milford Regional Medical Center.

6:05 p.m.: A caller requested an officer because a large vehicle was parked on the corner of Bragg Slipp and Central Street, and it was blocking the view of people trying to turn on to Bragg Slipp. Police responded and the vehicle was gone.

7:00 p.m.: A caller reported a fight among three women on Central Street. No description was provided. The women fled toward the Blaire House.

8:00 p.m.: Two people walked in to police headquarters to speak to an officer about an ongoing school issue. they said they reported that their daughter's glasses were stolen, to her teacher, and nothing was done, although the girl reported she had seen another student wearing her glasses.

8:50 p.m.: A two-car crash was reported on South Main and Depot streets. It was not clear whether someone was injured.

9:10 p.m.: A caller said an intoxicated man was on the front lawn of a home on Lawrence Street, and not responding. Police found the 30-year-old heavily intoxicated. He was taken by ambulance to Milford Regional Medical Center.

Wednesday, April 24

7:30 a.m.: A disturbance was reported on Capitol Road, in an apartment hallway. The caller said it was possibly a domestic. Police responded. No arrest was reported.

9:47 a.m.: A two-car crash was reported near Peter's Market. No one was injured.

12:26 p.m.: A woman walked in to police headquarters to speak to an officer. She said her daughter believed her best friend was trying to harm her. The mother asked for a well-being check.

1:49 p.m: Police responded to where a man in the courtroom was reported to be getting out of control. Police arrived and the man was told to leave the property.

2:53 p.m: A caller reported youths were riding bikes on the tennis courts and climbing on the net at Milford Town Park. Police spoke to them.

3:27 p.m.: Police received a report of an unwanted woman on Jefferson Street. Police arrested Sarah E. Mandell, 21, of 40 Jefferson St., Apt. 5, Milford, on two warrants.
