Police Log: Man Reports Sound of 'Explosion' Behind Home, Nothing Found in Area

Monday, Sept. 8
At 7:23 a.m., Milofrd Police pulled over a grey 2006 Chevrolet LL Equinox on East Main Street, where they arrested Renata Dasilva, 33, of Milford, on charges of driving with a suspended license, driving with a revoked registration, driving an uninsured vehicle and also for a warrant.
At 7:30 a.m., police responded to the area of West Spruce Street and Gibbon Avenue on a report of a three-car accident. Two vehicles were towed from the scene; no injuries were reported.

At 11:17 a.m., police received a report of wires down along Fruit Street. Verizon was notified.
At 12:14 p.m., a caller reported that four males in a black Honda Civic with Rhode Island plates had been potentially using drugs in the area of Burger King on Beaver Street. Officers responded but the vehicle was gone on arrival, and was reportedly last seen taking a right onto Beaver Street heading towards Fortune Boulevard.

At 1:54 p.m., a caller reported a car accident with no injuries in the area of West Street Liquors, with one vehicle reportedly unable to move out of the roadway and blocking traffic. Officers subsequently issued a summons to a 25-year-old Milford man for failure to slow and for unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.
At 4:32 p.m., Massachusetts State Police in Millbury reported to Milford police that an erratic driver was seen all over the road and on the highway and in the area of Lowe’s Home Improvement on Fortune Boulevard. Officers responded but found the vehicle was no longer in the area.
At 4:39 p.m., a caller reported that his mailbox had been smashed on Purchase Street.
At 5:03 p.m., a caller reported that a manhole cover was open on Sumner Street across from Benjamin Moore Paints. Officers responded and found one of the covers to a water gate had been flipped over and subsequently needed to use a hammer to fix it.
At 9:57 p.m., a male party reported to police that he heard an explosion behind his house on Howard Street and said it sounded like fireworks. Officers responded and found the area to be clear. At 10:25 p.m., the same caller reported a second explosion. Officers responded again to check the area and advised the caller that the sound may be coming from a nearby bakery or factory.
