Police Log: Man Walking into Traffic, Arrests

The following information was provided by the Milford Police Department. Charges do not indicate a conviction.

Sunday, April 21

2:23 a.m.: A caller reported she thought someone was at her door on Mt. Pleasant Street. Police checked the neighborhood but did not see anyone.

7:09 a.m.: An officer said he was flagged down by a motorist who said a woman was sleeping in a building on Maher Court who doesn't live there. The woman was gone when the officer arrived.

7:51 a.m.: A 56-year-old man was vomiting, and possibly having a heart attack, at the entrance to the Milford Upper Charles Trail, near the municipal lot on Main Street. He was taken to Milford Regional Medical Center.

10:28 a.m.: A caller reported jewelry was stolen from All About You on East Main Street.

1:30 p.m.: A woman at the Milford Police headquarters said she was concerned about other children harassing her daughter.

2:29 p.m.: A caller reported a driver in a red Dodge Ram pickup pulled up next to her in the Big Lots parking lot, and started making threats. The driver then went into the Big Lots store. 

3:16 p.m.: A two-car crash was reported on Main Street at Prospect Street. At least one person was taken to Milford Regional Medical Center.

4:27 p.m.: A woman reported a 64-year-old man had fallen off his bike on the Milford Upper Charles Trail, behind Shadowbrook condominiums, about a mile past Louisa Lake. Rescue took the man to the hospital.

4:57 p.m.: Kohl's employees reported a woman wanted for shoplifting was "out of control." Police responded and arrested Patricia Cordeiro, 38, of 14 Thayer St., Apt. 2, Milford, on a charge of shoplifting by concealing merchandise. 

5:33 p.m.: A caller reported an erratic driver on Purchase Street. The caller said the driver took a left out of Peter's Market and then was all over the road. Before entering his van, he fell getting into the vehicle and appeared to be intoxicated. Police pulled the van over at Main and Pine streets. Police arrested Manuel Caguna, 24, of 37 School St., Apt. 1, Milford, on charges of OUI liquor and unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.

10:39 p.m.: A man said his neighbor reported her boyfriend had assaulted her. Police responded and arrested Javier Cortes-Sanchez, 29, of 40 Jefferson St., Apt. 5, Milford, on a charge of domestic assault and battery.

11:33 p.m.: A woman reported a physical argument with her son. No arrests were reported.

Monday, April 22

12:35 a.m.: Following a motor vehicle stop on Congress Street, police were seeking a summons to charge Theresa A. O'Brien, 48, of 43 Congress St., Milford, with operating an uninsured motor vehicle and operating an unregistered motor vehicle.

12:48 a.m.: A caller reported a man had left TGI Friday's and appeared to be intoxicated. Police checked the area but could not locate the vehicle.

8:23 a.m.: A caller at Sovereign Bank reported a man in his 50s was walking in and out of traffic, acting strangely, and wearing a green sweater.

9:59 a.m.: A 50-year-old man fainted in the main court room at Milford District Court. He was taken to Milford Regional Medical Center.

11:14 a.m.: A caller said rings were missing from a location on Country Club Lane. 

11:37 a.m.: A caller on Fountain Street reported illegal dumping.

11:51 a.m.: An 81-year-old woman fell at Target, and had shortness of breath. She was taken to Milford Regional Medical Center.

12:28 p.m.: A caller asked to speak to an officer because she is experiencing harassment from a neighbor.

2:53 p.m.: A caller said at the music pavilion next to the tennis courts, at four teens had taken the net.

3:39 p.m.: A caller reported she contacted Nathan's Jewelers and found a large amount of jewelry had been turned in by a niece staying with her. She confirmed it was her jewelry, sold without her permission, and contacted police.

4:10 p.m.: A caller said he works for a car dealership and when a deal had fallen through, he picked up the vehicle, only to find it had been keyed on both sides.
