Town of Milford Issues Community Reminders

Dog licensing, absentee voting, and proof of residence cards for school are included in the reminders issued by the city.

Milford, MA - The office of the Town Clerk is open Monday through Friday between 8:30 am and 5:00 pm.

Most Vital Records, Dog licenses, DBA Certificates can also be obtained or purchased through the Town of Milford’s website on the Town Clerk’s page by using a credit card.

Acceptable payments to the Town Clerk’s Office are cash, money order, bank check, business check or credit card (with a convenience fee).

Reminder to license your dog(s):

All dogs residing in the Town of Milford are required to be registered and licensed with the Town Clerk’s Office. 2016 Dog license period started April 1st and ended June 30th. Anyone who still needs to obtain a 2016 Dog license can do so in person or online. An additional $10.00 late fee will be attached to these registrations. We will need to have valid rabies certificate information on file to register the dog(s) and also proof of spay/neutering (certificate from the Vet.) If you need to provide us a copy of these documents, please email them to dnaff@townofmilford.com. Starting July 1, 2016, the cost to license your dog(s) is $16.00 per dog (including late fee) for Spayed/Neutered dogs and the cost for Male/Female dogs is $35.00 per dog (including late fee). You are able to house up to three dogs in a household, anyone with four or more dogs will need to file for a Special Permit to obtain a Kennel License for their residence (this is done through the Legal Department/Zoning Board).

Absentee Ballots:

Absentee ballots for the September 8th State Primary are available in the Town Clerk’s Office.

You can apply for an absentee ballot for the three following reasons:

You are a registered voter who will be unable to vote at the polls on Election Day due to:

  • 1. Absence from your (voting) town, during polling hours (7am-8pm) on Election Day (Nov. 8th).
  • 2. You have a physical disability preventing you from going to the police place; or
  • 3. Religious belief

Proof of Residence Cards for School:

Enrolling school age children for the first time or making address changes within the Town of Milford require the parents to obtain a Proof of Residence Card for the school.

Renters:

If you rent where you live, you will need to provide the Town one of these following documents as evidence from the homeowner/landlord:

A signed lease from the landlord or rental agent that lists all occupants in the household, the address and the contact information for the landlord.

OR

A notarized letter from the landlord or rental agent that lists the address, all occupants and their dates of birth, and the contact information of the landlord.

Homeowners:

If you own your own home, you will need to provide the Town one of the following documents as evidence you are the homeowner:

A copy of your “field card” from the Assessor’s Office in Town Hall that lists you as the owner of the property.

OR

Show your purchase/sales agreement or mortgage that lists you as homeowner.

Voting:

If you are a United States Citizen and will be 18 years of age or older on election day (September 8, 2016 or November 8, 2016) you can register to vote at our office or download a form from our website or from Elections Division at the Secretary of the Commonwealth’s website.
