Uxbridge Man Charged with Heroin Possession, Intent to Distribute

A 20-year-old from Uxbridge was charged with heroin possession and intent to distribute charges after police found 17 bags of the drug in his backpack.

Milford Police detectives charged a 20-year-old man Friday night with drug offenses after finding 17 baggies of heroin in his backpack, which was searched after his arrest on a shoplifting warrant.

Shaun Janson, 20, of 51 High St., Uxbridge, was arrested on a charge of possession of a Class A substance (heroin) with intent to distribute, a well as possession of a Class A substance (heroin), according to police. He also was charged with shoplifting on a warrant issued by Milford District Court.

Police spotted Janson after responding to a complaint of a suspicious person at Congress and Fayette streets, according to a press release. He was arrested on the shoplifting warrant. In an inventory search of Janson's backpack, as part of the booking process, police recovered 17 bags of heroin, or 3.1 grams in total, along with a hypodermic needle.

He is being held at the police station without bail, pending arraignment in Milford District Court.
