2. Interested in service and helping out around the community? Join the Rotary Club of Needham. The club holds weekly lunches every Tuesday at noon at the Sheraton Needham Hotel. The gatherings are free to anyone interested in learning more about the club and its membership.

3. Would A Rose By Any Other Name Demystify Botanical Names? Well, that is what the Massachusetts Horticultural Society in Wellesley hopes to do with their presentation today, 10 a.m. while you may not be able to pick up Greek and Latin in just one orning, you can learn how to understand a plant’s botanical name and decipher a lot of information just by the way it’s written in a free class.

4. The Wellesley College Distinguished Writers Series returns tonight with Walter Mosley and China Mieville. Mosley is the writer of more than 37 critically acclaimed books, including the major bestselling mystery series featuring Easy Rawlins. Mieville is working in the vein of H.P. Lovecraft and other writers of "Weird Fiction." Both will be at the College at 4:30 p.m.

5. Need help Developing a Positive "Can-Do!" Attitude? Tonight at the Needham Free Public Library, they are hosting a A The Early Childhood Professional Association workshop Presented by John & Nancy Muglia. Which will cost $25.
