Community Invited To Hear About Webster St. Project

DPW officials will present plans for the final phase of roadway rehabilitation and take questions at a meeting Thursday at Eliot School.

The Needham Department of Public Works will hold a meeting to discuss the roadway rehabilitation of Webster Street between West Street and Highland Avenue on Thursday, Sept. 27. The meeting will be held from 7-9 p.m. at the Eliot School performance center.

The DPW is preparing to undertake the next phase of Webster Street beginning in October. This will be the third and final phase of the project, which runs between Dedham Avenue and Highland Avenue. The prior two phases were completed over a four-year period between 2007 and 2010.

The DPW will present the design plan in which a portion of the roadeway is wider to provide on-street parking for users of Avery Field.

After receiving input from citizens and public safety officials, the DPW determined that the overall roadway width would not be increased. Additional community participation is important and encouraged so that comments and concerns can be heard and considered in the construction plan.

Those who are unable to attend the meeting can send questions or concerns to rhoyland@needhamma.gov.
