Crash Leads To OUI Charge, Warrant Arrests: Needham Police Log

The following is from the Needham Police Log. Arrests and charges mentioned don't imply conviction.

September 10

A Hillside Ave business reported that four bollard covers were stolen sometime over the weekend. The matter remains open.

2:20 p.m. - An officer was dispatched to a Dedham Avenue address for a motor vehicle crash involving a bicyclist. Neither party was injured due to the crash. Information was exchanged between the parties.

September 11

6:40 a.m. - An officer conducted a motor vehicle stop in the area of Webster and Putnam streets for a red light violation. Following a brief investigation the operator of the vehicle, 40-year-old Luis Santiago of Boston, was arrested for an outstanding warrant. The operator was also charged with operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license and a red light violation.

10:20 a.m. - An officer was performing selective enforcement in the area of West and Eliot streets. As a result of a motor vehicle violation, a 24-year-old Lowell man was issued a summons for unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, revoked insurance, and a number plate violation.

4:38 p.m. - An officer responded to a Hunnewell Street residence for a report of a past larceny. After subsequent investigation it was determined that there was no larceny and it was a misunderstanding of tools that were to be borrowed.

September 12

12:10 p.m. - An officer responded to a business on Reservoir Street for a report of suspicious phone calls. The caller was making calls to the business, making various statements, and then hanging up. Upon investigation the Officer was able to determine the identity of the caller and resolve the matter to prevent further calls.

September 13

12:30 a.m. - An officer encountered a 20-year-old Dover man walking along Highland Avenue. After speaking with the individual it was discovered that he was heavily intoxicated. The individual's parents were notified, they arrived on scene and the individual was released to their custody.

6:00 p.m. - An officer responded to a Central Avenue address for a reported landlord/tenant dispute. During the investigation one of the tenants, 54-year-old Carlos Cesar of Needham, was found to have a warrant for his arrest issued by Peabody District Court and he was subsequently arrested.

September 14

2:30 a.m. - Officers responded to the intersection of Central Avenue and Cedar Street for a reported two-car crash. Upon investigating the crash, 46-year-old Elizabeth Fortescue of Wellesley was arrested for operating under the influence of alcohol.
