Needham Police Log: No Entry but Vandalism, Crosswalk Crash and More

The following reports were provided by the Needham Police Department. Charges where mentioned do not indicate a conviction.

Monday, March 11

• Police investigated a pedestrian hit outside of the 1070 block of Great Plain Avenue, about 8:30 a.m. A Needham woman was cited for failing to yield to a pedestrian on a crosswalk, and the injured pedestrian was taken to the hospital for injuries sustained in the collision.
• A Lindbergh Avenue woman reported an attempted breaking-and-entering, and police came to investigate the screened porch at her home. Police determined, before 2:45 p.m., that the incident was vandalism, and no attempt to gain entry to the home was made. 
• At about 5 p.m., police received a report of a hit-and-run at the traffic light at Webster Street and West Street. The vehicle was described as a white tractor trailer with a green square logo on the cab, and the driver was said to be a caucasian or Hispanic man in a light-red shirt.
• A Dorchester resident came to police HQ at about 5:15 p.m. to report vandalism to his vehicle, which had been parked outside of his former place of employment. 

Tuesday, March 12

• At about 3:30 a.m., police came upon a vehicle parked at a Franklin Street business, with two people inside. They spoke to the driver, a 32-year-old man from Framingham, and the passenger, a 33-year-old woman from Natick. Police determined that the woman, identified as Jennifer Coppell had an outstanding warrant from Wayland, out of Framingham District Court. The man was released, and instructed to leave without incident.
• Police conducted a traffic stop on Highland Avenue, at about 4:45 p.m., for a failed inspection sticker. As a result of that, police determined that the driver also did not have a valid license to drive in Mass. He was issued a citation and summonsed to court for driving without a license, and the inspection sticker violation.

Wednesday, March 13

• Police took a report from a Douglas Road resident, whose debit card was used to make purchases on Barnes and Noble and Amazon.com. The resident was advised to report to credit bureaus and place an alert on the accounts.
• At about noon, police responded to a B Street construction site, where a 65-year-old worker had fallen from some scaffolding. Needham Fire Department transported the man to Beth Israel hospital with what appeared to be non-life threatening injuries. OSHA was notified, and responded to the job site.
• A resident reported they cashed a check sent to them in the mail, and it bounced when they deposited it. At about 2:15 p.m., he was advised that it was a scam from the Phillippines.
