Needham Police Log: Drinks and Drugs, Wires Down and an OUI

Tuesday, March 19

  • Police pulled a car over because of an expired registration sticker, and police saw a case of beer in the back seat. When they spoke to the driver, they determined that no one in the vehicle was 21 or older. A search of the vehicle revealed not only alcohol, but also marijuana and evidence of distributing marijuana. The driver, a 19-year-old from Edgartown, will be summonsed to court for being under 21 in possession of alcohol, and possession with intent to distribute marijuana, 11 a.m.

  • 2:45 p.m., police stopped a driver on Chestnut Street for operating on a suspnended license. Police summonsed a 57-year-old woman from Needham for driving on a supended license. 
  • Two-car crash reported before 5 p.m. on Evelyn Road, where the driver of a parked service truck, a Hingam man aged 40, was transported to Beth Israel Hospital. The driver of the other vehicle was issued a vehicle citation for a number of infractions.

Thursday, March 21

  • NSTAR responded to a downed power line reported on School Street at about 12:15 p.m. The wire was repaired with minor damage to the building. 
  • A larceny was reported at about 3:45 p.m. at a First Avenue business. Police report the matter is under investigation. 
  • A Hunting Road resident reported harrassing phone calls at about 4 p.m., and told police that she thought they may have been made by an ex-boyfriend. Police are investigating.
  • 6 p.m., a Greendale Avenue address reported a past suspicious person. The reporting party said that, while she was home earlier in the day, she heard someone open and close her mailbox. While looking outside, she saw two caucasian teenagers walking away from the property. She believes the duo were looking to see what was inside, but she had already retrieved her mail.
  • Rosegate Road, residents reported a past larceny, saying that some time in the last two weeks, four gold rings had been taken from her bedroom. Police are investigating the matter. 
  • At about 10:15 p.m., police were dispatched to Hunnewell Street for a report of a vehicle accident. Upon arrival, police saw a vehicle off to the side of the road with some damage to the front end. While speaking to the driver, police say they smelled some alcohol coming from her breath. After failing some field sobriety tests, police formed the opinion that the driver, a 64-year-old from Needham, Judith Sees, had been driving while intoxicated. Sees was arrested and charged with operating while under the influence of intoxicating liquor.
