Sculpture Symbolizes Needham's Commitment to Mental Health Awareness
A unique stainless-steel sculpture now stands outside of Needham High School.

A unique stainless-steel sculpture, representing a community defined by it’s commitment to care, now stands outside Needham High School.
The seven-foot-tall creation consists of two wavy panels and is covered in quotes from residents and workers from Needham. The quotes aim to illustrate a community defined by a caring, inspirational, and supportive identity.
In keeping with this spirit of community activism, students at Needham High School created a series of events they named “Own Your Peace”.

The Own Your Peace sculpture marks the latest step in a student-driven initiative to raise mental health awareness throughout the community. The initiative began eight years ago after four Needham students took their own lives.
According to project organizers, when you Own Your Peace, “you recognize the struggles of others in your community and reach out to help.” Additionally, “ you understand and respect who you are, and you find healthy ways to persevere through the adversity you face.”
