Slow Van, Attempted Larceny: Needham Police Log

September 14
An officer responded to a Highland Avenue address for a report of money that was missing. The matter is under investigation.
7:20 p.m. - An officer took a walk in report regarding a suspicious vehicle. The reporting party stated that while they were walking in the area of Harris Avenue, a work van slowly drove by them twice. Units checked the area with negative results. The party was advised to contact the police if they saw the vehicle again.

8:00 p.m. - An officer took a walk-in report for a possible phone scam. The reporting party stated they received a phone call that their electricity would be shut off if they didn't pay a certain amount of money. The reporting party was instructed to get a prepaid gift card and provide the card information over the phone, which they did. It was later discovered this was a scam. The matter is under investigation.

11:00 a.m. - A walk-in to the station reported an attempted larceny and a completed identity theft. No larceny occurred and the party was advised on how to safeguard his identity in the future.
