NEWTON, MA — Two additional investigations have concluded that Newton-Wellesley Hospital was not the cause of seven nurses developing brain tumors, according to a report from Boston.com.

Five nurses were diagnosed with benign tumors in early April, and the first investigation was immediately carried out by the hospital itself. At the time, the Massachusetts Nurses Association expressed that they do not believe the hospital’s environmental testing was thorough enough. The two additional nurses were diagnosed soon after. The two most recent investigations were carried out by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health and Mass General Brigham Occupational Health Service. The DPH report concluded that radiation readings were within regulatory limits and found no violations.

The hospital is exploring additional third-party review for the validation of the findings.
