NEWTON, MA - The Newton-Wellesley Hospital accidentally sent out a notification saying there was an active shooter on campus Thursday morning. The email caused some alarm on Twitter but the hospital quickly sent out a second notification correcting the error, the hospital said. The message was mistakenly sent out while the hospital was attempting to perform an emergency notification drill, according to the hospital.

There is not an active shooter situation at the Newton-Wellesley Hospital.
