'Xernona and the Grand Dragon X:' Staged Reading Performances

Xernona and the Grand Dragon X is an original one act play commissioned by the National Center for Race Amity in collaboration with playwright Jacqui Parker. Each performance portrays a real life story of the surprising friendship between Xernona Clayton, a civil rights leader working with Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., and the Grand Dragon of the Georgia KKK.


The list of current cast is as follows: Tyler Catanella (Somerville, MA); Allison Crews (Franklin, MA); Julia Fein (Newton, MA); Hakim Harris (Roxbury, MA); Ervin Melara (Waltham, MA); Cheri Nelson (Dorchester, MA); Seonseray Oates (Boston, MA); Wilkinson Theodoris (Quincy, MA).


Each reading is approximately fifty minutes followed by an audience talk-back with Xernona actors.

The National Center for Race Amity offers a subsidized admission of $5 per senior or student to the following matinee performances. Advanced reservations and early arrivals are recommended since theater seating is limited.
