Five Things You Need to Know Today: March 8

A concert, a CD launch and a reminder about dog licenses.

Updated 8:55 a.m.

1. Concert. Young artists from the Rivers School Conservatory will give a concert tonight at the Scandinavian Cultural Center in West Newton. The program includes the Sonata in D major for violin and piano, opus 12, number 1 by Ludwig van Beethoven, Sinfonia No. 1 in C Major, BWV 787 by Johann Sebastian Bach and Nocturne by Claude Debussy, to name a few. The concert starts at 7:30 p.m.

2. Possible slick roads out there. Please be careful with your morning commute -- overnight snowfall is likely to cause some slick roads. The Newton area is forecasted to get around 3-6 inches, and the snow will be heavy and wet, according to WHDH meteorologists. A Winter Storm Warning is still in effect until 1 p.m. Friday, according to the National Weather Service.
