Investigators have determined that the accidental fire sparked after combustable materials came in contact with an open flame on the gas stove, the press release said.
The homeowners were displaced as a result of the fire.
According to the Fire Department, the homeowners were alerted to the fire by a working smoke detector.
The department reminded residents to check and test smoke detectors as well as carbon monoxide detectors. A good time to do this is when you change your clocks over for Daylight Saving Time, which started this weekend.
