Level 3 Sex Offender From Newton Rape Case Wanted By State Police

John Corbett is supposed to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life. He has not done that, State Police said.

NEWTON, MA – A man who was convicted of breaking into a Newton home and sexually assaulting a women inside is now wanted by the Massachusetts State Police.

John Corbett, 60, has been added to the State Police's Most Wanted Sex Offenders list and is wanted for failing to register as a sex offender. He was classified as a Level 3 sex offender after his 1990 conviction for aggravated rape, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, and breaking and entering.

The convictions stem from a 1989 incident where Corbett broke into a Newton home while those inside were sleeping. Once in the home, he sexually assaulted a woman at knifepoint.

Corbett received a 15-20-year prison sentence and is currently in violation of a requirement to register as a sex offender for life.

State Police say Corbett has a lengthy criminal history in Massachusetts. He has ties to Boston, Plymouth, Lowell, Waltham, Framingham, and Florida.

He is described as about about 6 feet tall and 215 lbs., with brown hair and hazel eyes. He has tattoos on his left wrist, left upper arm, and right upper arm, and has scars on his right thigh, right fingers, left elbow, and abdomen.
