Mass Pike Lane Closures: Second Week of Bridge Construction
This is the second scheduled weekend of work that will result in lane closures.
NEWTON, MA — This weekend marks the second major lane closure on a portion of the Mass Pike as a part of the Newton/Weston bridge replacement and rehabilitation interchange project.
The closures will be on exits 123 and 125 in Weston and Newton, which covers a two-mile stretch from the Ridgeway Road bridge in Weston to the Commonwealth Avenue overpass in Newton. They will begin at 9 p.m. on Friday night and end at 5 a.m. on Monday, June 23.
According to the state, the bridge project includes work on a total of eight bridges located at the I-90/I-95 interchange on Newton and Weston. Of the eight, five are slated to be completely replaced, two will have their superstructures changed, and one is only in need of rehabilitation. This specific closure is being carried out to replace the I-90 bridge that goes over the MBTA's commuter rail.
