The CDC recommends that people in high risk areas wear masks in indoor public spaces, stay up-to-date with vaccines and boosters, and get tested if experiencing symptoms. Additional precautions may be needed for those at high risk of severe illness. The community levels of COVID-19 are based on incidence rate, new hospital admissions with confirmed COVID-19 per 100,000 people, and percent of inpatient beds occupied by COVID-19 patients. Most communities in Middlesex County, including Newton, have said they have no plans to reinstate mask mandates at this time. The CDC tracks COVID-19 data at a county level <a href="https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/science/community-levels.html" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">here</a>. The page is updated on a weekly basis.
