NEWTON, MA — A brand new fire engine is now in service at the Fire Station 7 in Newton Highlands.

Equipped with a 1500 gallons per minute pump and 750-gallon water tank, the new $800,000 2025 KME Severe Service Pumper Engine was funded through the city’s replacement program which aims to keep its emergency service equipment modern. The new engine replaces the 2007 Pierce Arrow XT engine, which is slated to become a reserve engine for the city.

“This new apparatus has a smaller wheelbase and better turn radius, provides easier and quicker deployment of fire hoses to attack fires, and excellent safety features,” Mayor Ruthanne Fuller said about the new engine.
